Overbrook Early Learning Center serves children ages 2.8 to 5 years old who meet residency and enrollment requirements.

We use The Creative Curriculum, taught through a unit-of-study model aligned with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS). Learning is play-based, hands-on, and responsive to children’s interests.

Teachers use Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG), an observation-based assessment system aligned with CT ELDS. Assessment is ongoing and based on observations, work samples, and documentation of learning.

Families receive report cards three times per year. Parent-teacher conferences are held in November and February, and meetings can be requested at any time.

The school day runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Breakfast is served at 9:00 a.m.

Families must report absences between 8:00–9:00 a.m. Documentation is required for excused absences and late arrivals. Regular attendance is strongly encouraged.

Yes. Free breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack are provided daily and meet USDA nutritional guidelines. Meals are served family-style. Families may choose to send meals from home if preferred.

Yes. Overbrook Early Learning Center is a nut-free environment to protect students with food allergies.

Children must have a current physical, immunization record, and annual flu shot on file prior to attending school.

We use positive, developmentally appropriate guidance strategies. Our expectations are simple: be respectful, be responsible, and be safe. Physical or psychological punishment is never used.

We use ParentSquare for messages and announcements. Teachers also communicate through newsletters, conferences, and informal check-ins.

We collaborate with kindergarten staff, share assessment information, and offer transition activities and family orientation events to support a smooth move to kindergarten.
